For most business owners who deal in the production of goods, finding the right materials to work with is essential in their overall level of success.
There are a number of things that will have to be purchased in order for a business like this to run efficiently and among the most important is a wooden pallet.
Once a company has produced their goods, they will have to use suitable packaging material in order for the merchandise to be safe. Pallets (usually wood) is one such packaging material, the use of which makes the handling of the cargo much easier such as using a fork lift.
But before you buy wood pallets for sale, you have to take some time to do a bit of research. Below are 4 key considerations to make before buying wooden pallets.
1) The Right Size
The first thing that has to be considered when trying to get the right pallets is how big they need to be. There are a number of businesses out there that deal in the production of large goods and will need wooden pallets to match the products they have.
Rather than dealing with a pallet that cannot hold the weight of the goods produced, the business owner will need to do their homework regarding what they need.
2) The Overall Durability of the Pallets
When trying to get the right pallets, you will also need to give some consideration to the overall level of durability. The last thing that any business owner wants is to get a pallet that will break soon after due to poor construction.
Be sure to speak with the supplier to find out what type of conditions their pallets are built to handle. The more you can find out about the pallets you are getting, the easier you will find it to have a stress-free buying experience.
3) Hiring the Right Supplier
Another very important thing that has to be considered when trying to find the right pallets is where to get them from. In most cases, there will be a variety of different pallet suppliers in an area, which is why you will have to do some research.
Getting information regarding the experience of a pallet supplier is a great way to figure out which one is the best fit. A business owner will also need to take the time to check out the pricing in their area. This will help them to find the best possible deal on the pallets they need.
While finding the right pallets can be a bit time-consuming, it will be more than worth the effort in the end. Trying to buy pallets without doing the proper amount of research can lead to disastrous consequences.
4) ISPM15 compliant
ISPM15 stands for International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15.
It is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).
ISPM15 requires all raw wood packaging (pallets, crates, dunnage etc) to be fumigated or heat treated, prior to being used for shipment. This measure has been put in place to stop the spread of timber pests, insects or fungus.
So when you are buying wooden pallets you should ensure that it is stamped with the approved by IPPC stamp which may look like the image shown.
